Check for updates or repair this device without clearing your preferences or saved guides. Ordinary releases do not require reinstalling.
This installation
Home-screen icon
The saved preference and the installed icon are separate. Your browser cannot report which icon the launcher currently displays. After refreshing, check your home screen yourself.
Recovery file
There is no account sync on this site. Download your theme, text size, density, language and icon preferences before removing an installed app. The file also records whether guides should be downloaded again. It contains no login credentials or cached binaries. Keep it outside the app.
Restoring replaces these display preferences only. Fresh guide copies are downloaded when online; old cache contents are never restored.
Advanced recovery
Try repair and a normal update first. Reinstall is a last resort for a persistent installation or launcher problem. First download a recovery file, then open that file above to verify it.
Reinstall steps
- Keep the verified recovery file outside the app. Close other Miles of Meaning tabs.
- Only if repair did not resolve the problem: remove the installed app using your device’s app management. This can delete this app’s local data. Do not clear unrelated browser data.
- Open milesofmeaning.com/install in your browser and follow its installation instructions. Avoid installing a second copy.
- Open the installed app, return to App & Updates, open the recovery file and restore preferences. Verify recovery to download fresh saved guides. Confirm the home-screen icon separately.
Reset local application data
This separate action deletes Miles of Meaning display preferences, local lifecycle diagnostics and downloaded guides. It does not remove your installed shortcut. Download a recovery file first.
